American Girl Doll 2006 Information

Just read the following items about American Girl plans for 2006 . . . they are probably correct!

A - Next limited Girl of Today (after Marisol of 2005) will be Jess McConnell . . . not sure where she's from but she will be spending 5 months on an archeological ancient Mayan "dig" with her parents in Belize! Should be interesting - but have no clue what Jess looks like - yet.

B - New mysteries for the American Girl dolls will be coming by next spring for Samantha, Felicity and Josephina!

C - Rumor is that next year's "Friend" doll will be Emily, Molly's friend from England. I would have bet on Ruthie, Kit's friend!

Hey, you seem to be pretty up on the American Girl news! My daughter and I are huge fans of these dolls. We line in California and I'm wondering if you've heard any news on the date that they are opening the American Girl Place in Los Angeles???? Thanks for any info you have.

Posted by: Jennifer Granados at November 22, 2005 10:52 PM

I can't wait but so far all I know is that it will open in the Spring of 2006 . . . however they will be starting to accept reservations for the Theatre and Cafe January 16th. So I would assume they will know the opening dates by then . . . should be really fun!

PS: Adult friends tell me that if you go to the Cafe without a doll, they will offer a "loaner doll" to have lunch with you in her own little chair (I think you even have a choice of dolls!)

Posted by: Millie at November 23, 2005 10:39 PM

Hello. I was wondering how you know all of this information. Do you know what movie it will be next year?

Posted by: Alexis at December 1, 2005 04:38 PM

I belong to several "doll lover" web groups and we share information and rumors!! The latest rumor is that Molly will have the next movie and that Emily, her friend from England, will be the new friend doll. Which leaves me wondering . . . she is English, not American . . . does that mean we will start getting dolls from other countries?? Interesting possibilities!!
PS: I had guessed Kit would be next -

Posted by: Millie at December 1, 2005 07:20 PM

Is it for sure that Emily, Molly's friend will be the next friend doll? I was really hoping it would be Ruthie.

Posted by: Mary at December 4, 2005 02:02 PM

No it is NOT for sure . . . these are all rumors in the American Girl Doll World. As for Molly's friend - it could be Susan or Linda instead of Emily. I like Ruthie too, but she's Kit's friend.

Posted by: Millie at December 4, 2005 03:05 PM

I don't think the American Girl Doll of Today is a true rumor. Why would they call it AMERICAN girl if she lives in Belize?

Posted by: catherine at December 4, 2005 06:22 PM

The way I heard it, she IS an American girl who is traveling & living with her American parents who are archeologists working in Belize. And it's temporary ie five months.

Posted by: Millie at December 4, 2005 07:09 PM

i can't wait to see what Jess looks like!

Posted by: Ali at December 7, 2005 03:39 PM

Wow! This is so cool how you know all this stuff! Do you really think that the Jess rumor is true? Are you part of the American Girl Club or something?

Posted by: Lana at December 9, 2005 09:46 AM

How do you know so much about American Girl? Are you part of the American Girl Club?

Posted by: Catherine at December 13, 2005 07:13 AM

Yes we're a member of the American Girl Club but most of our info & rumors comes from several on-line doll groups (for adults!)

Posted by: Millie at December 13, 2005 12:27 PM

We love American Girls at our house! Someone posted they were members of some American Girl groups and I would like to ask which ones and how do I become a member? I'd love to hear the latest news too!

Here's glimpse of the new Jess Doll:

Also, Valerie Tripp is currently writing the book for Emily, so it is confirmed that the next movie will be of Molly.

Does anyone have a promotion code discount to use when purchasing from the website? Thanks!

Posted by: Wendi at December 17, 2005 12:12 PM

what does jess mcconnel look like???????

Posted by: caitlin at December 17, 2005 05:11 PM

There is an American Girl group on the www.AmericanGirl.com website under Fun for Girls . . . it seems fun PLUS you get a $10.00 discount on your next purchase

I belong to some doll groups that are for adults who enjoy playing & collecting play dolls including American Girl dolls. Members are invited usually - write me individually at millie@DollCloset.com if you want more info.

Posted by: Millie at December 17, 2005 10:08 PM

Thank You!! Isn't Jess cute?! She's just been added to MY Wish List

And thanks for confirming that Emily will be the next friend doll - and Molly the star of next year's TV movie

Posted by: Millie at December 17, 2005 10:12 PM

Depends on which website you mean . . . I don't have one for AmericanGirl.com but do know that you can get an automatic 15% off every Monday through December on DollCloset.com (on purchases over $15.00) AND that a December and early January automatic discount will be in effect starting December 25th.

Check out the link in this column from one of our readers - Jess looks like a winner to me!

Posted by: Millie at December 17, 2005 10:21 PM

the image isn't showing up!

Posted by: Haley at December 18, 2005 10:40 AM

Unfortunately, the above link to the picture of Jess is no longer working! The owner of the photo seems to have removed it. :(

From Millie:
Here's another one that does work:
http://www.dollcloset.com/Jess2006AmericanGirlDoll.html

Posted by: AG-Lover at December 18, 2005 12:57 PM

well I'm not sure jess is her name, because I'm in the american girl club, and each day they let the members see a piece of the image (of the 2006 doll's drawn picture), and the upper right hand corner, the name is written. and so far you can see two little pieces of it, and the fist looks kind of like a cursive z, maybe its a J, but then in another piece near that it looks like their is a stick from a letter like P or something coming down. I don't know, but the hair color is brown as we get to see a peice of her hair

From Millie:
The bookcover in the image below does show a cursive type J and the full name Jess
Here's another link that does work:

Posted by: Haley at December 18, 2005 03:18 PM

also, the pic is working again =) she is cute!

Posted by: Haley at December 18, 2005 03:21 PM

Oh my gosh! She's so cute. I've been going crazy trying to see what she looks like. Thanks!!!

I have a $10 off coupon for an american girl purchase of $30 or more from the Felicity DVD. Good till 1/31/06
Key Code # 146831. Happy Holidays!

Posted by: Jody at December 18, 2005 08:33 PM

I am part of the American Girl Club too. That is so cool how you get pictures like that. Do you have any other ones I could see or was that the only one ,and why don't you ever tell us which doll guilds you are in? I would like to join!

Posted by: Catherine at December 20, 2005 07:36 AM

After watching the extra features on the Felicity DVD, there was an uncredited young girl who introduced a behind-the-scenes section on the making of the movie (not the part where Shailene and Katie do the tour of Williamsburg). Since she was uncredited and she mentions at the end about "wondering what the next movie will be", can we guess that she is the girl who will play Molly? Any info on this? Thanks.

Posted by: Heidi at December 20, 2005 11:34 AM

Interesting thought! But I don't have any information . . . did you check to see if she was one of the extras? Several are pictured in the Behind the Scenes section on American Girl or in the book "Lights, Camera, Felicity!"

Posted by: Millie at December 20, 2005 12:19 PM

How did you get the picture of Jess? Is there a secret American Girl website that has information?

From Millie:
I don't know where it came from - someone sent it to us!

Posted by: Alexis at December 20, 2005 02:46 PM

Millie,
I've just discovered your site and am so happy to see someone as interested in collecting American Girls as I am. I've collected them since 1987 (I was 6 then) and have continued through adulthood. Now my three-year-old daughter has become interested in them and we are both very excited about Jess and Emily. I thought Kit's movie would be next too, but I've always been fond of Molly.

Posted by: Hermione (yes, really) at December 21, 2005 07:00 AM

Oh, all you people who want to join the American Girl Club just be forwarned that the club is for girls (although adults do join) and that it costs $20 a year to be in it. That is all!

Posted by: Catherine at December 21, 2005 07:32 AM

Is Jess Hawaiian? Because my mom and I have been waiting for AG to come out with an asian doll. There are plenty of times when they could make an asian doll, like with the Chinese made that long railroad or in WW2 when there were a lot of Japoniese people. I hope she is asian, because AG dolls don't have enough diversity when it come to ethnic groups. I mean Addie is the only African-American doll and Kaya has a little bit darker skin, but the rest of the dolls have white skin. I have white skin myself, but I son't think it's fair that there isn't enough diversity in the groups. Is there any way I can contact AG to write about this problem?

My friends and I agree that we need an Asian doll and it looks like we might have it with Jess . . . but I vaguely recall that she's from the East Coast. Definitely would have remembered if she was from Hawaii!

I love jess! Now I've seen her pic she's on my wishlist- which already has Felicity, Elizabeth, and the new AGOT with long brown hair! ;-)
Does anyone know anything more about Jess's book besides the is going to Belize with parents for a arceoligical (sp)study and is being homeschooled? And also does someone know what stuff she will have??
*excited!*
V.S.*

I don't know more but I am guessing she comes with a pet orange bird like the one on the shoulder of the girl model!

Posted by: VictoriaStarlight at December 22, 2005 07:37 AM

Hey,

I wrote about the asian doll. I just recieved a reply and AG said they take a long time to make a doll, and you have to find the research, blah blah blah... They didn't say anything about actually making an asian doll, all they were talking about is how long it takes do make a doll. Sorry that I didn't get a better response. :-

From Millie:

*Spoiler* but fits right in . . . Jess has a Japanese-American Mom & an American Dad! See Dec. 24 blog entry for more . . .

Posted by: Amanda at December 24, 2005 04:26 AM

Thank you for telling me about Jess! She came out today as you know, of course. Thank you for telling me about her, because that made me even more excited for her. I want to buy her, but I am 12 years old, and my parents think I'm too old to play with my AG dolls, much less buy one. Do you think 12 is too old of an age to play or buy AG dolls?

Posted by: Amanda at December 26, 2005 06:49 PM

NO! 12 years old is NOT to old to play with dolls. You are NEVER to old to play with dolls. I am 14 years old going on 15 and I am DEFINATLEY NOT going to stop playing with dolls. P.S. I REALLY want Jess too.

Posted by: Catherine at December 27, 2005 04:05 PM

Thank you Catherine, that's cool you still play with your dolls, my sister is 15 and her dolls are stuffed in the back of her closet! I bought Jess and I can't wait until she get's here:) Thanks for your advice :-D

Posted by: Amanda at December 27, 2005 07:41 PM

Do you know if they will ever have an American Girl tv show? It would be so cool if they had one! They could have it where there are 8 girls playing each doll and telling their stories, like in the American Girls Revue in the American Girl Place.

From Millie:

I haven't heard of it but I agree that it would be cool . . why not call or email customer service at American Girl and discuss with them?!
PS: Did you know that the American Girl company was not the one to think of the TV movies of Samantha and Felicity? It was Julia Roberts, the movie actress!! She called them with the idea . . .

Posted by: Alexis at December 28, 2005 01:23 PM

Dear Catherine,

Do you have a user name on AG club? If you do, what is it?

From Millie:

Rather than let this information be available to everyone, email your user name to me Catherine and I will email it to Amanda. But check first with your parents for their approval - Thanks!

Posted by: Amanda at December 29, 2005 09:23 AM

Of course you're not too old to play with dolls! I've been collecting them since I was 6 and now Im 24 and I just ordered Jess yesterday. I guess I could tell you that I was 9 when I got my first AG doll (Samantha) and I saved my allowance for 3 months to buy her for myself. My parents were so proud of me that they surprised me with one of her outfits as a gift. Maybe if you explain to your parents that you will take good care of her and that she is something you really would like to have they would be supportve.

Posted by: Hermione at December 31, 2005 08:16 AM

Do you have any information about auditions for the AG movies or AG Place?

From Millie:

Sorry - no. I imagine those go through acting agents. . . but that's just a guess.

Posted by: Alexis at January 2, 2006 07:16 PM

I really wonder why Jess didn't come with a parrot instead of Toshi the monkey. I just finished the book and she took care of an orphaned parrot in the book. Do you have any idea why that is?

From Millie:
I certainly expected her to come with a parrot too! I assume Mattel wasn't able to find or produce one that they could offer . . . but I intend to look for one to offer as an extra for Jess (or any doll that wants one!).
I did read a similar comment from an adult collector moaning that Mattel missed the boat on the parrot for Jess PLUS missed the boat last year by not having a Ballet Folklorico outfit for Marisol . . .

Posted by: Amanda at January 4, 2006 06:16 PM

Amanda

I am sorry. I would like to tell you my username ,but my parents have opted for me to not send messages to other players on the American Girl Club. Do you have an email address though? Oh, I also heard that Julie Arnold is set to debut in the summer of 2006. She is a dancer from Long Island ,New York. I read this from Wikipedia. Any comments on this?

From Millie:
Interesting but unusual information on Julie Arnold . . . a doll? They already have Jess for 2006 . . . are they going to have TWO?!

Posted by: Catherine at January 10, 2006 07:49 AM

Do you think Mattel will change Emily too? I was cleaning out my book shelf the other day and found books with brown hair on Elizabeth, and every picture of Nellie's hair in Samantha's books have been sort of red. They probably just made the dolls cuter so they'd sell better - you think it'll be true with Molly's friend?

From Millie:
Afraid I don't have a clue regarding Mattel's decisions! I agree that Elizabeth should have had brown hair . . . but my Nellie does have reddish hair - "strawberry blonde" but not totally red like Felicity. Emily, Molly's friend from England, had light brown or blonde hair in the books as I remember. It will be interesting to see how she comes out!

Posted by: Chrissy at January 10, 2006 01:23 PM

It seems like they are going to have two. I went ,and looked for the information again on Wikipedia and they erased it ,but if you do a google search with "Julie Arnold (American Girl)" if you read the description under one of the first few web address you will see some of what it said about her. I am not sure if American Girl decided to change if they have 2 dolls of the year or not ,but that is what I read. They didn't say anything about the way she looks like ,though.

Posted by: Catherine at January 11, 2006 12:58 PM

But how could they have 2 AG dolls of the year? Anyway Marisol was a dancer, they can't have 2 dancers, that would be boring! Are you sure that this information is correct?

From Millie:
I have to agree that this seems more rumor than fact . . . I searched as recommended and could not find any mention of a second doll PLUS just received a new issue of a Newsletter devoted to American Girl dolls without any mention. We'll keep our eyes peeled!!

Posted by: Mandy at January 12, 2006 12:25 PM

I agree this all sounds strange ,but I am just telling you what I read. If I hadn't read it I wouldn't have said anything about it. I thought that too, about how Marisol was a dancer ,but remember there are OTHER types of dance and that Marisol made ALOT of money for American Girl. If what I read dose indeed not come to be true ,PLEASE don't hold this against me. I just told you what I saw ,and nothing else.

From Millie:

Don't worry - we love to hear all the rumors . . . and you might be the first to know!

Posted by: Catherine at January 13, 2006 07:17 AM

I googled Julie Arnold and I didn't see anything.

Posted by: Sarah at January 28, 2006 03:46 PM

I was wondering do you have any new info on any new AG products, that arn't posted on this website? Thanks!

From Millie:

Yes! We've just ordered three new American Girl Mysteries featuring Felicity, Josefina and Samantha . . . they should be here next month. That's all I'm aware of right now - will keep everyone posted!

Posted by: Mandy at January 31, 2006 03:29 PM

Cool! 3 new American Girl Mysteries! Do you know what the titles of them are?

From Millie:

Yes we do! Felicity's mystery is: "Peril at King's Creek", Josefina's mystery is: "Secrets in the Hills" and Samantha's mystery is: "The Stolen Sapphire" All sound like great reading!

Posted by: Catherine at February 3, 2006 12:00 PM

I wonder why AG hasen't made a servant dress for Nellie. You can't really act out her story if she is wearing the fancy dresses. Do you know why they never made a servant dress?

From Millie:

I would guess that they haven't because first, a plain work dress would probably not sell well! Second, Samantha and her family wanted to get Nellie (and her sisters)out of the "servant" situation . . . so better to concentrate on the positive ie Nellie's new life (have you read her book? It's very well done.)

Posted by: Mady at February 6, 2006 02:47 PM

Has everyone seen the NEW spring outfits from American Girl? They are SO cute!! If you haven't seen them you'd better check them out!! If you have seen them what is your favorite new thing? Mine is the Embroidered Party Dress for American Girls of Today. It is SO pretty!

Posted by: Catherine at February 18, 2006 09:08 AM

I don't think there's going to be another girl. Jess is the only one who is out. However, I do believe there's going to be a Molly movie this year.

From Millie:

We agree with both statements!

Do you have an info on Emily, or any more pictures of her? She seems so cool!

From Millie:

I haven't heard more about her that we haven't already printed - she won't be out until Fall (or late August) and is Molly's friend from England. Her book is being written and her TV movie with Molly is in the works!

Posted by: Clara at March 12, 2006 06:29 AM

I absolutely adore Josephina and Samantha from American girl, as well as Molly. I believe doll collecting says alot about the individuals personality, imagination, and sophistication. All of this is thanks to my daughter, whom without her i would never have gained the inspiration to partake in such a patient hobby in my twenties. Thank you Doll Closet.

Can someone post what that thing said about Julie Arnold?? I cannot find it anywhere.
Also I like Emily but they should have given her brown hair. I'm looking forwards to the Molly Movie but I am not buying either doll.
Victoria Anastasia S.

From Millie:

The Julie Arnold comments are under the American Gril Doll 2006 Information section - they were comments only.

I'm looking forward to the Molly movie too - and Emily (already have had Molly for ages!)

Posted by: VictoriaStarlight at April 1, 2006 08:12 AM

Do you have pictures of the Emily book? And when is Emily supposed to come out? And will they let American Girl club members get her first like Elizabeth? I am just curious ,because I am a member!

From Millie:

I don't know of any other pictures of Emily but maybe someone does . . . I assume Emily will come out in late August/early September just like the others have.

Posted by: Catherine at April 1, 2006 03:18 PM

Emily's book "Brave Emily" is coming out in August 2006, so I am assuming the Emily doll will be released the same time as well.

From Millie:
Sounds like a good assumption to me! Thanks for the info

Posted by: Rodellee at April 13, 2006 05:23 AM

I found out the exact day that the Emily book will be published! It will be published on August 21, 2006!

From Millie:
Hooray!

Posted by: Catherine at April 14, 2006 04:01 PM

I do not know about Judy Arnold, I think that that is just a total rumor. I searched "Judy Arnold (American Girl)" on Google and there was nothing. I am not sure but I have contacted American Girl about this and they said that they can not release any information because they do not know anything. But, they also replied "what?" when I told them that I have seen pictures of Emily on Mattel's website! Well, hopefully soon they release information about Emily and or Judy Arnold soon. I hope that the club can see pictures of Emily now and buy her. I will be going to AmericanGirl Place this summer and maybe they will debut her there a few days early. Who knows.

Posted by: NoNAme at April 20, 2006 10:29 PM

Yeh, I searched for Julie Arnold on google a LONG time ago and she was there ,but they earased the information on her ,so now it dose seem like a total rumor. I guess American Girl coaught the site posting fake info and got rid of it.

Hey all! I found this Molly movie information on Wikipedia:

Molly: An American Girl Victory (2006)
The third movie is currently in production to be released this fall.

The first two movies were broadcast on The WB; Molly's movie will be on Disney Channel since UPN is merging with the WB and both sides feel that the movie's content will not fit with the goals of the new network.

Roles so far include Maya Ritter as Molly and Tory Green as Emily.

---------
Can you imagine an American Girl movie being a Disney channel original movie? It is really sad. I was hoping that Disney wouldn't put they're nose in American Girl stuff ,but like always if anyone is makeing money doing something big they want to take it over. Oh, well, the movie will still be good I am sure!

From Millie -
I wonder why the original company that made the other two TV movies sold out to Disney??
Thanks for the info!

Posted by: Catherine at June 6, 2006 11:20 AM

I went on an American Girl collecting website, and I found out that there will be a short story collection book for each doll. Also they are making a few more short stories for Kit and Kaya. I can't wait until they come out!

From Millie:

Yes! More stories coming - here's a list of the new ones to be issued soon:
Felicity's Valentine, Kit's Winning Ways, Kit Uses Her Head, Kit and Millie Ride Again, Kaya and the Beavers, Kaya and the Flood, Kaya and the Injured Dog, and Kaya and the Grandmothers

From Millie:

Cool!! And Molly looks just the way I pictured her! Thanks a bunch -

Ya Know Anyone Can Put Stuff On Wikipedia. So There Probably Wont Be Any Julie Arnold. It Most Likly It Wont Sell Either Cause Who Would Want 2 American Girl Doll Dancers.I Dont Think There Will Be An American girl Movie On Disney Either. Also Did You Know The American girl Club Is Closing In August And You Cant Buy Member Ships Anymore.:(

From Millie:

I think everyone here agrees that the Julie Arnold doll rumor was just that - a rumor!

But there WILL be a Molly movie this fall - not sure if it's by WB as the other two were (Samantha & Felicity) or Disney but it IS happening! See the June postings for pictures etc.

It's a shame but it's true - no more AG Club memberships!

Posted by: Sarah at June 22, 2006 02:17 PM

Is there any new AG products that arn't out yet, and arn't posted on this website?

From Millie:

The new items coming this fall will be Emily, Molly's friend, and their new outfits etc. DollCloset.com only carries some of the AG products that are sold by Pleasant Company Publications. American Girl does NOT sell it's dolls etc to other retailers.

Posted by: Amanda at July 8, 2006 06:33 AM

ilove american girl dolls

From Millie:

I agree!! And so do lots of others!

Posted by: christine at July 10, 2006 11:04 AM

i found what emily's accessories look like. here's a pic!
http://curtdanhauser.com/AG_Collecting/Emi_Access_Big.jpg

i think she's supposed to be holding her scrapbook? i don't know but she's really cute!

From Millie:

She certainly is cute! This is one of the early pictures of Emily before we saw the cover of her book "Brave Emily". The two pictures show her in different dresses; it's going to be interesting to see which outfit the doll wears. Maybe the other one will be an extra dress for her . . . only another 2 months and we will know!

Posted by: CHRiSSY at July 10, 2006 03:07 PM

It is weird how the new Emily doll has longer hair and fancier clothes than in the book. Because in the book she has really short hair and boring plain clothes. I guess that they just wanted her to sell better.

From Millie:

I have to agree with you that the doll friends don't always look the way that they are shown and described in the books . . . Elizabeth should have brown hair, not blonde! I also agree that Mattel has probably made changes so that the dolls will sell well. In spite of that, I'm looking forward to Emily arriving!!

Posted by: Amanda at July 14, 2006 03:35 PM

Does anyone know when in the fall Emily is going to come out? I am just SO excited I can hardley wait for her to come out!

From Millie:

According to one of our readers, September 5th!!

Guess what? Emily is coming out on September 5th!!! And you can buy her @ AG Place on Aug. 31! I called and since I am going to be at AG place right before then they said I might be able to get her! I will be one of the first to have her!! Yay!

From Millie:

Lucky you!!

Posted by: NoName at July 26, 2006 10:45 AM

If you call american girl @ 1-800-845-0005 they will tell you some information on Emily! Yay! I think Julie Arnold is a total rumor but I wonder if she's not maybe she will be a new historical character from like 1950 who knows! Like Kit or Kaya or Josephina??

From Millie:

From what I've heard & read, I don't think that a new historical character is in our future very soon! However, I did read a rumor that Kit will be the next doll to have a movie so therefore Ruthie would be the next friend doll. Hooray!! She's a cutie too!

Posted by: NoName at July 26, 2006 11:17 AM

I am almost 100% sure that Kit will be the next doll to have a friend and a movie. They are going in a pattern. They started with the best selling doll Samantha, then they went to the first doll Felicity, now they are doing the last doll Molly. Then it seems like they will do the one before the last and then I am sure they will do the one after Felicity which I believe is Kirsten or Josefina. PLUS Kit sells well and a lot of people want Ruthie to be a doll. I wonnder who the next AG 2007 will be look at <a href="http://curtdanhauser.com/AG_Collecting/Main.html and he always has doll information. I was also wondering what doll groups you belong to Millie.

From Millie:

Thanks for the information! I agree that the CurtDanHayser site is a great place for American Girl information.

I belong to two on-line doll groups - both of them really like American Girl dolls but are also open to other dolls such as Sasha, Toni, Betsy McCall and Robert Tonner dolls. Only criteria is fun!

Posted by: NoName at July 27, 2006 02:27 PM

September 5th! That is three days after my birthday! Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait to get the Emily doll for Christmas. That is SO cool how the next American Girl movie is going to be Kit! My little sister will be SO excited (she has Kit and is waiting for the Ruthie doll)! Does anyone know who the American Girl of 2007 is? I can hardley wait to find out!

From Millie:

I think everyone is excited about Molly/Emily and Kit/Ruthie!!

Posted by: Catherine at August 1, 2006 08:25 AM

Guess what everyone?! I found out that the next American Girl movie is going to be Kit's! And guess what else?!? This movie is going to be in the movie theaters! Did you ever think that American Girls would make it to the movie theaters?! I am REALLY excited about it! For the details check out this link: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=15655

From Millie:

Thanks for the link to the actual story . . . I had heard the rumor but now believe it - WOW!

Posted by: Catherine at August 1, 2006 04:36 PM

HI,

The next movie (after Molly's this fall), will be....KIT! My daughter is so excited, & so am I. Check out the link w/ movie info. It's going to be at the movie theaters instead of made for t.v.!
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=15655

From Millie:

Imagine all the Movie Parties there will be with lots of excited girls! Can't wait!!

Posted by: Bren at August 2, 2006 04:53 AM

OMG Emily has outfits!! Check out http://curtdanhauser.com/AG_Collecting/Main.html for more information and pictures! It says no photo available for the pajamas but click on the robe and look under it. I am so excited!

From Millie:

Thanks for the extra pictures! Can't wait til my new Emily arrives - we already have a few of our own outfits waiting to welcome her!

Posted by: NoName at August 15, 2006 08:20 PM

Hey Millie,
Do you have ALL the American Girl dolls?

From Millie:

Almost!! I don't have Kaya or Kailey . . . and, of course, I have the excuse that I need them for pictures LOL!

Posted by: Amanda at August 16, 2006 08:09 AM

I know this still may be a bit early for this ,but do know anything about the American Girl of 2007? I am VERY curious to know about her and was wondering if anything had been said about her yet.

From Millie:

I haven't heard anything yet . . . has any one else?

Posted by: Catherine at August 21, 2006 11:07 AM

You can pre order Emily if you call Ag Place 877-ag-place I am so excited! If you go to Ag place they have a room where you can look at emily and all of her outfits! YAY

From Millie:

You can also see pictures of Emily and her new outfits on our blog - under the August 9 entry (I'm happy to say we just found a good substitute for a decent Christmas dress for Emily . . . coming soon!)

Posted by: NoName at August 28, 2006 09:10 AM

Do you know who the Girl of the Year for 2007 is? I'm just wondering what nationality she is...

From Millie:

No I haven't . . . Emily is enough for me right now!

Posted by: Chrissy at September 9, 2006 07:29 AM

oops... L0l! i just went to a different site, and i found out her name is Nicki! her book is called "Thanks to Nicki", but it said it's supposed to be published in may of 2007...

From Millie:

Sounds great except the timing is way different than in the past. Usually she comes out in January . . . we'll have to see!

Posted by: Chrissy at September 9, 2006 07:33 AM

I don't know for sure if I like Emily and the new Molly stuff. I know it's supposed to be from 1944, but it looks way to modern for me. And I don't understand why they would get an actress who is 12 years old to play a 9 year old Molly, when you can tell she's really 12. I dunno....

From Millie:

I agree that the age of the Molly actress is a problem . . . but maybe she was the best! It does seem like they prefer Canadian actors and they make the film in Canada - must be cheaper

Posted by: Amanda at September 10, 2006 04:22 AM

Hi Millie-
As far as Nicki goes, a friend told me that she might be getting 2 books instead of just one. That would explain the late release date in May for "Thanks to Nicki" if another book is coming out in December first. I heard she's an animal lover!!! Cute!!!

From Millie:

I'm sure looking forward to hearing more about her!

Posted by: pumpkin pie at September 14, 2006 07:27 PM

2 stories for Nikki?!? That is So cute! I always wanted two stories for an American Girl of the Year! I hope they do publish two! Is it just me is anyone else excited about 2 books!?

From Millie:

I agree - sounds like fun!

Posted by: Catherine at September 29, 2006 03:02 PM

Do you know anything more about The Girl of the Year 2007?

From Millie:

We still don't know what she looks like but lots of other information is listed in our October 8th entry - Nikki sounds like another winner!

Posted by: Amanda at October 11, 2006 10:31 AM

There is a pic of Nikki's book cover! Go to http://curtdanhauser.com/AG_Collecting/Main.html Isn't that cool!

From Millie:

Very Cool!! Thanks - looks like Nikki has brown curly hair!

Posted by: Amanda at November 18, 2006 04:43 AM

I saw the Nicki doll. She has Dirty blonde hair, blue eyes and freckles. I really want her! Between her Jess and Emily, I can't decide who looks better! To see a picture of her, go to,www.squidoo.com/Americangirl/
You will love her!

From Millie:

Yes I do!!

Posted by: rebbeca at December 1, 2006 03:11 PM

Have you guys herd the rumor about the new doll rebbeca that is coming out next year? I really want to know if it's true or not.

From Millie:

I've heard about Rebecca too but not enough to know if it's true or not . . . I'm sure there will be a Ruthie next year to go with the Kit movie so maybe Rebecca is Girl of 2008?!

Posted by: rebbeca at December 1, 2006 03:15 PM

I have seen Nicki. She has long curly hair that is a medium brown, blue eyes, and the traditional face sculpt. Her meet outfit has a white button up long sleeve shirt, a turquoise wrap skirt with embroidered flowers, a brown belt that ties, brown western boots, and a turquoise beaded necklace. This is the same outfit she appers in on the cover of her first book. Her second outfit is a floral calico print in shades of salmon pink with white eyelet. Her collection includes a service dog, and a new horse. She is also reported to have a third outfit that includes a pair of pants, a long sleeved tee and a pair of chaps.

From Millie:

Great information - (Outfits sound cool!) Thanks!!

Posted by: AG Collector at December 8, 2006 06:33 PM

Do you guys know if there is an actual picture of the Nicki DOLL? I have searched the web and that squidoo site someone gave out but it's just a picture of the book cover. Please let me know! I have been saving my money for Nicki and if you order by December 20th you will get her by Christmas! Thanks

From Millie:

Are you sure?? I thought she wasn't available until after Christmas! Call American Girl for the latest info! 1-800-845-0005

Posted by: NoName at December 10, 2006 12:20 PM

Hey rebbeca. Where did you find that picture of the actual doll Nicki?! I've seen the picture of her book cover, but I want to see the actual doll.

From Millie:

Me too!

Posted by: Ashley at December 13, 2006 06:37 PM

where did you see Nicki? I've been looking everywhere for her! She sounds so pretty!!!
Can you please tell me where to find her?

From Millie:

I've only seen pictures of her on the cover of her book - other readers have posted the website . . . sorry I don't have it on hand now but it's in this column!

Posted by: Alexa at December 13, 2006 06:53 PM

millie, do you know when nicki is coming out because my mom promised me she would get me nicki for christmas, but I need to know when she comes out first!

From Millie:

I think the Girl of the Year is usually NOT available until after Christmas as it is the doll for 2007 . . . however I'd recommend your Mom to call American Girl and get the latest info from them (or call a Personal Shopper at one of the American Girl stores). The best number is probably 1-800-845-0005

Posted by: rochelle at December 17, 2006 09:09 AM

on americangirl.com, they have a puzzle count downso that everyday it shows another picture of the nicki doll. So I counted all the pieces and It looks like nicki is coming out Dec/31/06.

From Millie:

Thanks for the great info!!

Posted by: vanessa at December 17, 2006 09:14 AM

Millie, I was wondering, what dolls do you have?
BEcause I have Jess, Emily, and I am getting nicki. Just wondering.

PS. What doll do you look like? Sorry I'm asking a whole bunch of questions.

From Millie:

Well, some people are amazed but I don't have ALL of them . . . just most!! I do NOT have Kaya or Kayla (I think that was her name - the girl of the year after Lindsey) and I only have one of the other Girls of Today dolls - the Asian one.
I don't think I really look like any of them but I'm closest in time period to Molly . . .

Posted by: vanessa at December 17, 2006 09:19 AM

Hey is there anyway I can buy Marisol's (2005) World Collection at a more resonable price than $500 on EBAY. I REALLY want her!

P.S. Millie, who is your favorite American Girl?

From Millie:

I think eBay is the ONLy way you will find Marisol!!

Hard to say who is my favorite . . . I feel sorry for Kirstin because she's sooo cute but passed over by so many times but I really connected with my new Emily.
Have to say I really, really like them all!!

Posted by: Amanda at December 19, 2006 09:17 AM

Nicki will be released on January 1st, 2007. Shhh! Here's a secret: If you set the date on your computer to be after the first of the year, the entire Nicki puzzle will be revealed! It's one of the pictures from her book.

From Millie:

Tricky, tricky!

Posted by: AG Collector at December 22, 2006 04:28 PM

My daughter is looking all over for a picture of the doll Nicki, but we can't find one yet. I also tried setting my clock ahead on the computer to reveal the whole puzzle, but that didn't work Any suggestions?

From Millie:

I guess it's a moot point now as Nicki is out in all her glory on americangirl.com ! Before that we had some pictures of her on a book - she is cute!

Posted by: karen at December 26, 2006 09:59 AM

That is SO cool how if you change your clock the puzzle comes up ,and it really works! I am REALLY excited about Nikki! It is SO funny because the description of Nikki is exectly like my little sister who could be Nikki's twin!I got Emily for Christmas and I must say she is one of the most beautiful dolls I have seen. If you don't have her then you should get her!

From Millie:

I really like my Emily doll too - VERY special!

Posted by: Catherine at December 27, 2006 08:37 AM

http://curtdanhauser.com/AG_Collecting/Today.html#Nicki Look here for a picture of the Nicki doll. She is so cute. I am sorry that the picture is blurry but it is the best that you could get!
The following Jess (GOTY 2006) items are sold out:Jess's Motor Scooter, and Jess's whole world collection. The Berry Beach Boots for Dolls will be available for shipping on 2/16. Jess's Kayaking Outfit will be available for shipping on 1/9. I wonder if they are going to keep Jess's collection for a while. Because most products are GONE by the 28th. They haven't updated the site in a while but you never know. I am glad Jess is still available. Isn't it kind of annoying when AG doesn't release the "Whole World" collection until summer? Some people want to buy it right in January. Arg!! =[
~sMiLey

From Millie:

I was amazed that there were NO Jess items available at the end of December! I didn't think she was sold out . . .

Posted by: NoName at December 27, 2006 04:00 PM

Posted by: chrissy at December 28, 2006 10:51 AM

You can see a picture of nicki on Curt Danheuser's website!!!

Posted by: karen at December 28, 2006 12:08 PM

Nicki is adorable. People are already selling her on eBay. I love Nicki's gala outfit, but I think that they should include everything in the starter collection outfit wise.
I wonder if Ruthie is going to look like her because Ruthie is supposed to have red, curly hair with blue eyes and freckles. Maybe they will make her with straight hair? Not sure. Remember how last year Mattel released a forum with their plans for '06? I wonder if they will do that this year so we will be able to see Ruthie!!!!!!!

I found out ann awesome secret. If you go to the main page on www.americangirl.com, go to the very bottom, and click on the tiny link that says bookseller sight. Go there and explore the online catalog. They have books there that haven't come out yet, and it tells what the book is about. Happy reading!

Posted by: Amanda at January 2, 2007 11:56 AM

This is just my opinion, but personally, I hate Nicki. The doll herself is cute, but her country western theme isn't. I don't think Nicki will open up to a large amount of girls. That's me just forceing my opinion, I don't know... I surprised they haven't made an African- American Girl of the Year. Also I am so happy they made Emily's flutophone dress. I like how it sticks to the book. I am buying Emily soon! Is there any news on any new dolls? Just wondering. Ok, I'm done, Bye!

From Millie:

Have to disagree with you re. Nicki BUT that's because I'm from the west (California) and it seems like most of the dolls are from the East!! It would be good to have an African American Girl of the Year - we'll have to see what Mattel does! My friends also think more Asian dolls would be good too - I love Jess but most people don't think she looks very Asian.

There IS a rumor that there will be a Rebecca doll sometime in the future - a Jewish immigrant from Russia is what I've heard. We shall see!!

Posted by: Amanda at January 2, 2007 12:03 PM

I just ordered Nicki- she is sooo cute! I love horses and dogs so she is a perfect match. I just turned 14,is that too old to still be playing with my American Girl dolls?

From Millie:

Absolutely NOT! Lots of adults play and collect dolls . . . in fact there is a doll store named "Still Plays With Dolls" LOL!

Posted by: Emily at January 2, 2007 06:04 PM

Do you have any information on the next movie coming out after the Molly movie?

From Millie:

Recently we posted the news that MAYBE there won't be a Kit movie (she was to be next) . . . we'll have to wait for more news. I'm sure it's very expensive to make the movies so it will depend on the return to Mattel. Keep your fingers crossed!

Posted by: Emil at January 2, 2007 06:37 PM

I just turned 14 and I still like to play with my 6 American Girl dolls... is that too old to still be playing with them?

From Millie:

Not as far as I'm concerned! I belong to a group of ladies (most of us past 35) who love dolls and we constantly share news, pictures etc. There are LOTS of doll collecting clubs for adults too. Enjoy!!

Posted by: Emily at January 5, 2007 06:04 PM

Has anyone got Nicki's dog yet? I got it and I just want to know if anyone has opened their "DOG TRAINING TREATS" box. I wanted to know if there are little "treats" inside or if it is just cardboard.

From Millie:

I just got Nicki and not her dog so YOU will have to let the rest of us know! Isn't she cute?! Love her freckles and her outfit!

Posted by: NoName at January 8, 2007 07:06 PM

Yay, I just got Emily yesterday, too cute! I LOVE her!

p.s. she had really pretty hair!

Me, age 13, and my dolls: Kirsten, Addy, Felicity, Molly, Emily, Jess, Kailey, and Laura (just like me)!

From Millie:

Wow! You almost have as many as I do!! I love my Emily too - a real sweeteart!

Posted by: Amanda at January 11, 2007 04:28 AM

Millie,

You said that most of the GOTYs are from the East, but Kailey (2003- 2004) was from California. Just saying. P.S. Kailey is really pretty.

From Millie:

You're right that Kailey is from California . . . I was trying to refer to ALL of the dolls including the Historical - all of them except Josefina are from the East.
Unfortunately I've never see Kailey in person but I haven't seen ANY AG dolls that weren't pretty!!

Posted by: Amanda at January 11, 2007 04:31 AM

I was wondering how many American girl dolls you have and which ones... I have six... Felicity, Kaya, Molly, Emily, Kit, and Nicki(in order of when I got them)

From Millie:

Because I have the "excuse" that I need them for models of our doll outfits, I have all of the historical (including the 3 friends to date) except Kaya and all the Dolls of the Year except the second one - Kylie?
And just one Girl of Today (that's what is was when I bought her) - the Asian girl. They are all VERY special!

Posted by: Emily at January 12, 2007 06:19 PM

Do you think that Nicki's ranch outfit is weird how you have to put the purple "things" over the pants?

♥NoName

From Millie:

I believe that is the way chaps (the "things") are actually worn. They are usually leather and are to protect the pants while working on the ranch or cattle drive etc!

Posted by: NoName at January 12, 2007 07:39 PM

Hello American girl fans! I love American girl dolls and I am 12.
Do you know anything about the next movie? I heard that Kit would be next, but I’m not sure.
I really hope that Ruthie is the next doll!
Thanks for listening!!!!

From Millie:

The next movie has been discussed - latest news (bad) is in the January 2007 items.
Ruthie would be an adorable doll!

Posted by: AG fan at January 14, 2007 10:16 AM

Are they going to make any more outfits/accessories fo the Nicki doll? It would be cute if they made horse pjs...all of the other G.O.T dolls have soooo much!

From Millie:

I noticed they didn't have any PJs for Nicki too - a horse print would be cute! Because they have a second book planned for Nicki, I bet we see some new clothes etc for her then

Posted by: Emily at January 17, 2007 02:42 PM

my sister, mikayla age 9 and i,age 11,have 5 of the american girl dolls. josephina is my favorite. could there be a movie about her in the future? or some one from the south. i live in alabama.hope to visit american girl place in chicago ,someday.thanks again for the books ,i love to read.

From Millie:

I love the books too! Did you notice that an American Girl Boutique-Bistro is coming near Atlanta? That's closer than the others and should be fun.

Posted by: mary grace at January 18, 2007 11:20 AM

Can you tell me more about the BISTROs??

~NoName/Krissi

From Millie:

I don't know too much more but we'll keep adding information as we receive it! Sounds like one near Atlanta and one in Dallas this year - not as big as the AG Places but still a place to spend money!

Posted by: Krissi at January 23, 2007 08:22 PM

Do you have any more information about what the next movie is going to be? I heard it will be in movie theaters... that would be cool

~Emily~

From Millie:

Sorry but you need to catch up! The latest news is on the January 18th Blog . . . American Girl 2007 News.
Doesn't look like a movie will happen this year . . . sob!

Is 14 too old to play with dolls?

From Millie:

Absolutely NOT! We have discussed this before and have lots of agreement!

Posted by: Celeste at February 4, 2007 02:38 PM

Millie, who's your fave american girl doll? Mines Kit. Have you heard the latest news that Rebekah (It's spelled that way) might be created to take the place of an american girl movie yet? I heard that she's from russia!

From Millie:

Yes we have heard about Rebekah (thanks for the info on the spelling). I believe she is an immigrant and will be the Historical doll for 2007 . . . wonder what year??

Posted by: an american girl fan at February 4, 2007 02:44 PM

14 is NOT NOT NOT NOT too old to play with dolls!!! I still LOVE them and always will!
I hope Ruthie still comes out. I'll be 14 when she does if she does in 2008, and i'll STILL get her.
Rebekah seems like a good idea! I wonder what time she's from too!
I'm writing an american girl story about my american girl of today! Emma! I hope to write all 6 of them! I have it all planned out!
Millie, what american girl doll do you like best? I like Kit or Lindsey. Thank you for starting a doll blog!

From Millie:

I don't know which doll I like best! But I am partial to Emily right now . . .

From Millie:

Thanks for the update on Rebekah . . . personally, I think we'll see Ruthie in 2008!

Hello. I am 14 years old and I LOVE American Girl Dolls! You can never be too old to love dolls and play with them. I hope this helps all of the girls who think they are too old to play and collect dolls.

From Millie:

Perfect!!

Posted by: Alexis at February 7, 2007 02:54 PM

I agree that 14 is not to old to play or collect dolls! I still will get ruthie even if she comes out in 2008 (I'll be 14!)

I think we're all for dolls as long as we enjoy them!

Posted by: Sara Bennet at February 11, 2007 10:54 AM

I have herd rumors that the next movie is kit. i hope the rumors are true!

Posted by: Elise at February 11, 2007 02:10 PM

Why, hello everyone.

I've had a dilemna for a quite a while now, and I thought you'd be able to offer some advice.

I don't have nearly as many American Girl Dolls than the rest of you (only one so far), however, I'm looking to start collecting. Unfortunately, though, my puny allowence can only pay for one doll at the moment. I'm debating between Emily and Nellie, and I really can't decide which one I like better. (I've already ordered Emily, however, I'd be willing to return her for a Nellie doll, if I find that's what I'd prefer.)

So, any suggestions on which one to get?

From Millie:

A difficult choice but it's such a personal matter I think it's comes down to YOU! Which other doll do you have? Which time period & clothing do you prefer? Have fun with either one!!

Posted by: Melissa at February 12, 2007 08:07 PM

Is Nicki as pretty up close as she is far away?
I love the doll blog!!!!
I really want Ruthie to come out! But Rebekah seems more likely.
I am 8 years old and I have Kit, and Molly, and Emily.

I also have the bitty twins and coconut and Polly (Felicity's sister)

From Millie:

You're very lucky and you have more years to collect!

Posted by: Yvonne at February 16, 2007 07:19 AM

Mellssa, I think you should keep Emily. I have Emily and I love her! I also really want Nellie! You should keep and play with Emily, and save your allowance, and use it to buy Nellie! Both dolls are adorable. Good luck!

Posted by: Amanda at February 17, 2007 07:06 AM

I have a problem!

Okay, I am 13 years old, I have eight AG dolls, and I want Nellie! Am I too old for AG dolls? Would nine dolls be too many? I really do want Nellie, though.

From Millie:

We've discussed several time that you are never too old for dolls! As for how many . . . that's a space and money question - Good Luck!

Posted by: Amanda at February 17, 2007 07:13 AM

I think that it would be SO awesome if AG made a Girl of the Year from Hawaii. I already wrote to AG with the idea. I think it would be so cool, and girls (who don't live in Hawaii) could learn about Hawaii. I really hope they consider my idea!

From Millie:

Hope so too!!

Posted by: Amanda at February 17, 2007 07:15 AM

I have a problem, i want Nellie and ruthie, but ruthie isnt out, and i dont have samantha! But i am going to get Felicity and Elezibeth from my uncle, so should i not get nellie? I have enough money, but...

From Millie:

We should all be so lucky to have your problems LOL! Why not wait to decide until you get your Felicity (one of my favorites) and Elizabeth?

Posted by: Kiki at February 19, 2007 08:44 AM

" Mellssa, I think you should keep Emily. I have Emily and I love her! I also really want Nellie! You should keep and play with Emily, and save your allowance, and use it to buy Nellie! Both dolls are adorable. Good luck! "

==========

Thanks!

I've decided to keep Emily, however, she had a minor defect (she wouldn't sit!) so they sent me a new one.

And thanks for the idea! I think I'm going to try to bargain for Nellie for my birthday present, but with my allowence, I'm going to try to buy all of Emily's stuff.

Anyways, thank you SO much!

Posted by: Melissa at February 20, 2007 08:40 PM

I have Kit and Nellie and Samantha, and i REALLY want Emily, but i am not alowed to buy any more AG dolls until i find Kirsten (I lost her 2 years ago.)
Wawawawa!!!!!!!

I am going to tell my mom that i found her and go to the american girl place and ask to buy the Kirsten that all the kids could touch, so it will look old.
Wish me luck!!!

From Millie:

Sorry - we don't like to be part of deception plans . . .

Posted by: Lissandra at February 22, 2007 04:03 PM

My friend and i used to love playing with american girl dolls! We'd play with them for hours! But when my friend turned 11, she didnt want to play with them anymore. She said they were stupid and that boys interested her more.
Now she and i are 12 and she still wont even talk about american girl dolls.
It makes me said because i LOVE them and they are my life.
I dont know if i should still play with them. Am i too old? I mean, all the girls in my class are more interested in boys. They just say that dolls are stupid....

From Millie:

As we've discussed several times - you're never to old for dolls BUT not everyone thinks that way. Some will come back to dolls as they get older.

Hello all you girls out there.
I have a problem...
I want Emily but my uncle is getting me Molly first. I have enough money to buy Emily, but that wouldnt be very nice...
I guess i'll wait to get Emily next year...
LOL

~Emma~

From Millie -

Well Molly DOES come first! What a nice Uncle you have - make sure he knows it!!

Posted by: Emma at February 23, 2007 08:03 AM

Oh My Gosh! My Emily doll won't sit either. I thought she was supposed to be like that! I can't (and I don't want to) send her back because I have had her for about a month and a half... Oh well, I love her anyway. =]

From Millie:

Why won't she sit? even if she leans against something? or do you mean totally by herself?

Posted by: Amanda at February 25, 2007 03:38 PM

Emily legs won't bend all the way for her to fully sit down! Her limbs are stiff. It's really weird...

From Millie:

Call American Girl and ask them about it - they should be able to help! 1-800-845-0005

Posted by: Amanda at February 26, 2007 06:20 AM

who plays emily in felicity an american girl movie?

From Millie:

Emily is only in Molly:An American Girl on the Home Front . . . she was played by Tory Green; Molly was played by Maya Ritter.

Felicity: An American Girl Adventure used Shailene Woodley for Felicity and Katie Henney as Elizabeth

Posted by: kaitlin at February 28, 2007 07:41 AM

My Kit wont sit down!!! Whats happening?????

From Millie:

Call American Girl and ask!! 1-800-845-0005
Good luck!

Hello there,

All my friends say, "How is it to be named the same name as an American girl doll?"
To tell you the truth, i hate it! Whenever i introduce myself, they say, "No, really," And they dont believe that i AM Emily Bennet.
I am 13 years old and i love american girl dolls, but i dont like the other Emily Bennet.
I am so excited that Kit's movie is next (Or most likely next,) LOL,
Emily,the #1 american girl lover

From Millie:

I knew a girl named Betsy Ross and no one ever believed her either!!

Posted by: Emily Bennet at March 2, 2007 11:54 AM

Emily's bathing suit is weird. I think that it is kind of ugly.

From Millie:

I think Molly's is worse LOL!

Posted by: KRiS at March 2, 2007 04:30 PM

I was wondering if you make any clothes for American girls from the 1950's. I am writing a story for AG from then, and i cant find any outfits!!! I hope you consider making some, cos i'd buy them.
LOL!

From Millie:

Afraid the only 1950's outfit we have is the Poodle skirt - go to Http://www.dollcloset.com then to 18" Traditional doll clothes then to page 2 (Costumes) to find it . . . or here's the link:

I found a picture of Nicki's other book, 'thanks to nicki'! go to amazon.com and search thanks to nicki, and i am pretty sure it will come up!!!

Posted by: AG fan at March 6, 2007 11:33 AM

My name is nina and i am 7 years old, and i just got an AG doll. I have kit. My older sister has a girl of today, the one with blonde hair and brown eyes, and freckles. Her doll's name is Mecheala.
I am a huge fan of AG! When i first got kit, her eyes wouldnt close.
The only reason i knew that she had something wrong with her is because of my sister, Sierra.
TTYL!!!

From Millie:

Sounds like we have to be careful and make sure our new dolls are doing what they should . . . it's been my experience that American Girl will immediately send you a replacement so that you can get a doll that is right. Of course, then you have to send the flawed one back!!

Posted by: Nina at March 10, 2007 12:38 PM

I am Sara, and i REALLY auditioned for kit!!! I am sure that i have a chance of getting her!!! I had to have a screen test! It was really cool...

From Millie:

How fantastic !! Let us know what happens - we'll be pulling for you! And I guess that means Kit's movie will happen for sure (any other information would be MOST welcome LOL!)

Posted by: Sara at March 15, 2007 12:03 PM

Hey Sara, how did you find out about the Kit movie auditions? Do you have an agent? I act and would love to know more about the audition process. Good luck!

Posted by: Alexis at March 16, 2007 02:29 PM

WWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW! I would like to find out where the auditions were! I love to act, too, and i look like kit!!!

From Millie:

Good luck to all !

Posted by: Minnie at March 18, 2007 08:17 AM

I did auditioning for ruthie! How cool is that? I met the producer and all those guys. I had to have an agent. And i had to take a screan test, too. I really want ruthie sooooo bad! I am 11 years old, and i have kit, and have always loved her...

From Millie:

Good luck!! I always liked Ruthie!!

Posted by: The ruthie for the movie, KIT! at March 19, 2007 09:57 AM

I am mad that i told all my friends about me auditioning, because now all these people are E-mailing me saying, 'where did you audition?'and other stuff like that. So, i changed my E-mail slightly. Alexis, yes i did have to have an agent. But the only reason i found out about the auditions was because of my cousin, AnnaSophia Robb. (REALLY!) Wish me luck!

From Millie:

The price of fame . . . and we do wish you and our Ruthie actress lots of luck!

Posted by: Sara at March 20, 2007 12:10 PM

Dear Millie,
I wrote to the American girl company about the new kit movie, and this is what they said to me.

Dear American Girl. Friend,
Thank you for writing to share your enthusiasm for American Girl. and to express your interest in acting in a future American Girl movie. While it is possible that more movies will be produced based on other American Girls, it is too early to confirm any specifics.
Many girls write to inquire about acting in our movies. We do not audition or train actresses at our facility; therefore, we rely on professional agencies to fill our needs. Casting for the films is done by our producing partners, who work with their contacts at major talent agencies to find the appropriate actors for the roles.

We are thankful for your interest in American Girl products and your desire to act for us. Remember, you don't need to be an actress to be a wonderful American girl, and we hope you will continue to enjoy many happy hours with our books, dolls, and other products!

Thank you for your interest in American Girl.!

Sincerely,

American Girl. Customer Service

From Millie:

Great letter - thanks for sharing it!

Posted by: AG fan at March 21, 2007 11:54 AM

I really want to audition, but i guess i cant...
Oh well, atleast it's happening...

From Millie:

Very true!!

Posted by: S at March 22, 2007 06:37 AM

Wow Sara....that is so cool that she is your cousin! I met her at the Los Angeles American Girl Place premiere last April. I took a picture with her. She was very sweet. The next time you talk to her, ask her if she remembers a girl talking to her that had a pink dress on and looks just like the Samantha AG doll (really I do!). Good luck, Ruthie (for the movie) and Sara with your auditions! I hope to see you both in the movie!

From Millie:

Me too!!

Posted by: Alexis at March 22, 2007 03:38 PM

I wrote to the AG about Ruthie coming out, and this is what they said:

Dear American Girl. Friend,

Thank you for being interested about the American Girl movie Kit.
After the success of our made-for-TV movies featuring Samantha Parkington. and Felicity Merriman. and the airing of Molly.: An American Girl on the Home Front, American Girl has made the decision to go to the big screen with our next offering.

American Girl has partnered with Picturehouse (a joint venture between HBO and New Line Cinema). The new film is based on the Kit Kittredge.
stories. The movie is expected to be released in theaters in fall 2007, although a specific date is not available at this time. We will continue to work with Goldsmith-Thomas Productions and Julia Roberts?
production company, Red Om Films, who produced our three television movies. Casting details, release dates, and information on theaters that will air the film are not available at this date.

Unfortunatley, we do not know if a Ruthie doll will be available. Our Product Development Team is kept very busy creating exciting new products for our collections. All the ideas on their drawing boards are kept a secret until the items are actually available for purchase.
Please watch our website and catalogues for new products as they are introduced.

So i guess all those rumors about Kit's movie being canceled are not true.

From Millie:

It just won't be the same to have the movie and NOT have Ruthie!

Posted by: AG fan at March 27, 2007 11:14 AM

I asked Annie (AnnaSophia Robb) if she remembered a girl in a pink dress that looked like samantha. She said no, because she had met so many girls and a lot of them looked like samantha. Hey, go see her vidio of keep your mind wide open on You tube! She is a great singer.
Annie has 3 AG dalls. Kit, Samantha and nellie. I got to be on the ste's in the making of samantha, even though i was not in the movie. Poor annie had to dye her hair brown. I have blonde hair, and blue eyes like kit, so if i get her i wont have to do anything. Alexis, what ag place did you meet annie at? TTYL!

From Millie:

Thanks for the info! (I think she met Annie at the ne AG Place in LA as I remember)

I KNOW I REALLY WISH THEY WOULD MAKE A JOSEFINA MOVIE... HEY SINCE THEY SAID THEY DON'T KNOW IF THE RUTHIE DOLL WILL BE AVAILIABLE MAYBE THEY'RE MAKING THE REBECCA/REBEKAH DOLL.. IF SOMEONE HAS MORE INFO PLEASE LET ME KNOW...

From Millie:

I've heard from another source that the new doll named Julie is NOT Japanese American and the internment camp idea is NOT the story line . . . our imagination and curiosity continue!

Posted by: KELCI at March 30, 2007 02:31 PM

Hello Sara. I met her at the AGP LA. This was last April, so I am sure she would not have remembered me. She has met so many people I am sure. Good luck with the Kit movie!

Posted by: Alexis at April 1, 2007 09:38 AM

Who's Julie? Is she a new doll?

From Millie:

The lastest info is that Julie is the next doll coming out late August/early September. She will be a Historical Doll from the 20th century and apparently has a friend named Ivy. Check the early April entry!

Posted by: AG fan at April 2, 2007 11:21 AM

Is ruthie going to come out also? Or just julie? Cause i wrote to ag and they said that ruthie is coming out. I wonder....

From Millie:

Did they say when Ruthie was coming? So far the only official news (ie not rumor!) we've had is that there will be a new Historical doll this fall named Julie. More information welcome!

Abigail Breslin To Star In 'American Girl' Movie
Academy Award nominee Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) will star as Kit Kittredge in the first theatrical adaptation from the "American Girl" series, as an HBO Films production to be released by Picturehouse.
Check this out!

The film tells the story of the clever and resourceful Kit Kittredge, a nine-year-old girl growing up in 1934 during America’s Great Depression.

“Abigail was our very first choice for this role, and her enthusiasm and passion for this project is simply infectious,” said Colin Callender, president, HBO Films.

Introduced in 2000 as the seventh "American Girl" historical character, Kit Kittredge will be the first one to have her story adapted for a theatrical film.

Shooting will begin this summer.

Thanks for the info!

I didnt get kit, but i got ruthie. And by the way, sara's not my real name. I am so sicked about getting ruthie. I have to dye my hair brown. See you on the set with Abigail Brenlin! I am not kidding when i say i got ruthie. And that my real name's not Sara. I'm keeping my real name a secret to all of you.
Wish me the best of luck in the making of Kit: an american girl in the depression... AS RUTHIE!!!

From Millie:

Congratulations and Have Fun! Ruthie is a cool girl and liked by lots of us - including Kit!
PS: We'll know your name when they start advertising the movie!

Posted by: Sara at April 11, 2007 11:38 AM

Wow! Congrats to both of you! You both must be so excited. So what was the audition process like? I am so excited to see the movie. Bye!

PS- Congrats again!

Thanks Alexis! I just met Abigail breslin. She is very nice and polite. I just dyed my hair brown. It looks, well, "Different"... I am not too happy about it, but i look like ruthie.
Hey Alexis, do yuo remember when you met AnnaSophia Robb, if there was a little girl who looked kinda like kit, sitting with her? Well, that was me!!! I might not have been sitting with her when you met her, but it's possible that i was.
Like i said before, sara is not my real name. But you WILL find out when the movie is advertised. (I guess). I got to meet all the other girls who played american girls in the past movies. (Samantha i already knew, Nellie, Felicity-she's REALLY nice, elizebeth, Molly, and emily, and duh Abigail Breslin, my new friend. Mya-molly was weird. Nice, but kinda strange. She was friendly,
though.) I hope that you like the movie, and you can say that you talked to ruthie, Alexis, because this is close enough to meeting me in REAL LIFE. That is cool that you look like samantha! I guess a lot of kids look like AG dolls. I have a friend that looks like Addy (Kinda).
Make sure that you watch the movie for me! Oh yeah, I am pretty sure that the Ruthie doll WILL come out, and i'll get a free one just for playing her!!! How cool is that?
HAND! (Have a nice day!)
Oh yeah, Millie, which AG doll do you like best? I like kit and i guess all of em'! Bye, for now! I'll keep posting throughout the filming days, which should start soon enough.
BYE~!!!!

From Millie:

We'd LOVE to hear from you during the filming! When do they say the movie will come out?? And GREAT that a Ruthie doll is coming is coming!!

PS: I really like all of the AG dolls so have trouble picking a favorite . . . but because I am all thumbs with hair-dos I have to say that Elizabeth intimidates me LOL! And I am kind of partial to Emily . . . but didn't like that the movie story was sooo different from the books.

Posted by: Sara at April 16, 2007 01:30 PM

Abigail Breslin says HI!!!! She looks cute with her hair like kits. We make a good kit and ruthie. Her birthday was April 14th. Oh yeah, Millie, i told my friends and all the other girls who played ag dolls about your blog. You might be hearing from them.
I just read the kit book-her b-day one. I'd never read it before. It's neat. I love the fact that i am ruthie and ruthie is me. I am not being selfish or anything, but it IS cool.

I'll let you in on a little secret...
When they pick you for the part, it's because you're already famouse, or atleast been in another movie before. It doesnt go for friend parts as much.

Oh yeah, after the movie starts, i can tell you about some bloopers and things that are going on. It'll be cool. So i'll keep posting. It'll be like a behind the scenes thing.
The movie MIGHT come out next thanksgiving, or in time for X-mas. But you can pre-order any of the murchandise before then, i am sure.
TTYL!

Oh yeah, it's also cool to wear there outfits... and to look in the miror and think, 'so this is waht ruthie looks like...'
Bye for now!

From Millie:

Thanks so much for being willing to share behind the scenes "stuff"! So, I'm guessing you've acted before . . . anything we might know about? Please tell Abigail Hi from all of us - and a Belated Happy Birthday . . . we've got a bunch of eager fans here! (Did she change her hair color too or does she have a wig?)

PS: I've read all of Kit's books and they are well done - Ruthie has a big part to play in the Christmas one IF they keep it like the books

Posted by: Sara at April 17, 2007 11:41 AM

Hi "Sara". A little girl that looks like Kit.....sorry I don't remember! I am so excited for you and wish you the best of luck on your movie! So how did you get to meet the other AG movie stars? When do you start filming? Have you been in any other movies or tv shows?

From Millie:

I think we are all waiting to hear more!!

Posted by: Alexis at April 17, 2007 12:18 PM

Alexis, I met the other stars of the movies cos the producer likes all girls to meet the other ag girls.

The filming will start this summer.

Yay! The christmas one is my favorite!!!

I think mya ritter said she's gonna write to you.

TTYL!

I cannot tell you what i have been in before or IF i have been in anything before cos that'd give you a clue of who i am...

I much perfer the historical dolls over the modern dolls (although I do like the modern dolls) the historical dolls are so detailed and informative. Thats all for now!

Hi!!! From now on when i post it'll say 'Posted by: Ruthie'. That way i dont have to keep lying about my name.
AG fan, Tori Greene was nice, and i think that she did very good in the movie.
It WAS cool that i got to meet all the other AG stars! I guess that last year and the year before that they met them, too! (Except the year before that, in Samantha, Annie didnt have anyone to meet.)

AnnaSophia Robb says "Hello!!!!" She cant wait to see how the movie has turned out. She thinks it's awsome that her cousin got a roll as ruthie and she got Samantha in the AG movies.
(Maybe my little cousin Jessie will get a roll someday.)

Millie,
If you want, i can get Annie (Annasophia robb to write to you to say hello in person (not exactly).
Oh yeah, i thought you might want to know, Julie is coming out in august. COOL HUH?

I'll have to post it right now so i can do other things.

I will write back soon, and i love telling you about the movie.
I just wanted to tell you that i am very happy i got ruthie, but i am not greedy. I know how many other girls wanted either kit or ruthie, so i congradulate them, and wish them luck on the next movie. (This is a TOTAL guess, but i think that Josephina will be next after kit)

I hope that you ALL out there have a nice day!!!

My real name is Josette Halpert....
They just posted it on wikepedia (Well, actually, i posted it on wikepedia)

From Millie:

Hooray! Now we know who you are - Allison from the Molly film! But she wasn't blonde . . . and your picture on American Girl doesn't look blonde - what's the story?

PS: I could tell you were a dancer - you're very graceful!

Posted by: Sara at April 22, 2007 08:06 AM

They just said on wickepedia who got ruthie, kit's mom and dad, and miss howard! I guess Sara's real name is Josette Halpert, she was allison in molly's movie. This is what Wikepedia said:

Recently, updated details on the Kit movie were posted on Variety's website, among others. It will be produced by Julia Roberts, released by Picturehouse, and written by Ann Peacock. It was originally scheduled to air in theaters in Fall 2007. However, there were some production difficulties that made this impossible. Abigail Breslin has been chosen to play Kit, and filming is scheduled to begin June 2007. Josette Halpert(Allison from the Molly movie) has been casted in the movie. Her character is Ruthie Smithens. There is a big rumor that Damon Albarn will be chosen to play Kit's father, Brad Pitt as Will Shepherd, Anne Hathaway as Kit's mother and Erika Christensen as Mrs. Howard

So sara's real name is Josette.

From Millie:

Thanks for the updated info . . . we tried to find it on-line but couldn't. Lots of rumors re. the rest of the cast LOL!

PS: The screenwriter, Ann Peacock, also wrote The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (but I think I messed up the order)

Posted by: AG fan at April 22, 2007 08:19 AM

Heres my hair story. I wanted my hair dyed blonde for the kit auditions and the reason that i said i looked "Different" with it dyed back brown was becaus it was too dark. It wasnt natural. Now it looks better.
I am actually annasophia robbs DISTANT cousin.
I did play allison in the molly movie, so i was lying when i said that i met mya ritter for the first time a few weeks ago. (Sorry!)

I hope that you all get to see some behind the scenes pictures if i can post them.

TTYL, and i hope to post a comment again soon!

P.S.
Filming starts this june!

If what you have posted about Julie is true, I believe that having a ag HISORICAL doll in the 60's and 70's is WAYY to soon. I mean my parents were growing up in the 60's and 70's! I don't think it is far enough in the past for a 60's or 70's doll.

She looks cute though =]

And I'm glad they actually made an Asian character. Too bad though that Julie isn't Asian...

I FOUND A PICTURE OF THE JULIE DOLL!!!!

From Millie:

WHERE? Please share . . . !

Posted by: AG fan at April 28, 2007 12:56 PM

I cant figure out how to make the link so that you can click on her!
She actually may not look like the doll they show on the websight (Which i cannot find again). That's just what they think she'll look like. She IS from 1974!!!Here is what the americangirl company said about her:

Julie MacKenzie is free-spirited, talented and loving nine-year-old girl living in San Francisco in 1974.
More information will be added to this page as it becomes available. Images of the Julie doll on this page are conjectural and will be replaced with official photos at a later date.

Julie was the first historical doll from a new era since Kaya was introduced in 2002.

You know that kinda new doll with blonde hair and earings? Well, that's the doll they say julie's gonna look like. Imagine her in the outfit that Julie is wearing on the cover. That's what she'll look like!!!

TTYL!

Thanks for the info!

Ruthie migth share jess's face mold!

From Millie:

That would be unusual as Jess is Asian/Caucasian mix . . . all of the "friends" to date have used the Josefina face mold as all of the American Girls (except Josefina, Addy and Kaya) use the same face mold. The Girls and the Friends can't look the same!

Posted by: AG fan at May 1, 2007 11:44 AM

I am SO angry! I would absolutley LOVE to try out for the Kit movie. But I am 13! Why would they say only girls ages 8 to 12 could audition? That is completely unfair. Especially because Shalene Woodly (Felicity in the Felicity movie) was 13 and was going into high school when she played Felicity. This is dumb. I hate age limits!

From Millie:

One more unfair fact of life!

Posted by: Amanda at May 1, 2007 01:18 PM

RUTHIE hasnt been cast yet!

This is what 1 mother said about the experience:

My daughters auditioned on Monday. Our last name was in the last group (S) so we were not able to register until 5 pm (we got there right at 1 pm as the website stated). It was 100-degrees and we stood in line in the heat for at least 3-4 hours. They were very gracious providing water for everyone (the water was room temperature though) and THE GROVE provided umbrellas but the ran out midway into the line.

There were approximately 800 girls who auditioned. They told everyone to be available at 8pm for callbacks (my daughter was lucky enough to get called). We were told to come back at 9:30 a.m. yesterday (Tuesday). Out of the 800 girls, about 100 got a callback. Yesterday, my daughter went back in with her call-back script (they took them in groups of 12). Out of the 12, about 8 were sent home and they kept 4 (my daughter was one of them). She went back in AGAIN and was given a new script. About noon, they told all the kids that were left to come back at 6:00 p.m. OUT OF 800 WHO AUDITIONED, THERE WERE LESS THAN 30 GIRLS LEFT BY 6PM LAST NIGHT. Between 1PM and 5PM, they also had "close-casting" and saw kids who were sent there by their talent agents. So your daughter will not only be competing with 800-1000 girls, but also against seasoned kids who are signed by a TALENT AGENT and who are experienced doing TV/movies. While we were there, we saw Max Thieriot, who was auditioning for the part of 17-year old WILL. Max was the oldest teen boy in the movie THE PACIFIER (with VIN DIESEL) and also will play NED in the upcoming movie NANCY DREW (with EMMA ROBERTS) as well as a couple of girls who are regulars in "That's so Raven", and other DISNEY shows.

In short, they are casting for (4) of KIT'S FRIENDS: Ruthie, Constance, Florence, and Frances. The other moms and I figured out that they were looking for (4) particular "looks. Ruthie plays Kit's bestfriend (brown-eyed, brown hair); Constance (African-American); and lastly, Frances and Florence (10 and 8 years old) who are sisters. These last 2 parts is where it got confusing because they picked either brunette/ethnic/latin asian girls or totally blonde/blue-eyed girls to read for these parts. All the girls were also within Abigail Breslin's (who plays Kit) height (which is 4'4-4'6) so there were NO TALL GIRLS in the 2nd day call back except for the part of Constance (the african/american girl).

Both days, we were did not get out of AG PLACE earlier than 7PM. Very long, very hot days but overall, the experience was worth it. I do believe they are looking for (4) specific looks and height, though, so if your daughter does not fit into the category, you may want to think twice before auditioning. Good luck!!

From Millie:

Great info - Thanks! Where did you find it??

Posted by: AG Fan at May 11, 2007 10:58 AM

I am 10 years old, and I auditioned for the Kit movie. I got called back for the part of Florence.(I am very happy)
The script will be posted at the AG websight.
I am very excited about being called back out of any kids.
A LOT of girls were there with their dolls. I didnt bring mine.
Some of the girls were mean, but most were nice.
I met a girl being called back for constance. (An added part. I know it sounds un-true, but it is true.)
Wish me luck for the call backs!

From Millie:

Best of luck to you!!

Any word from Madison (Sara/Ruthie) yet? I e~mailed AG and they said that ruthie will be played by madison Davenport. Go to holleywood.com and type in Kit kittredge: an american girl mystery and you can see the rest of the cast!

From Millie:

We have heard from Sara/Madison . . . just approved her comments. And thanks for the info to see the rest of the cast!

Hi, I'm purchasing Jess for my daughter for her birthday and have no idea what the retail pricing for her or her accessories were but I was hoping that maybe one of you would know the original price of her scooter. I would appreciate any help possible. Thanks in advance, Susan
P.S. If anyone has one they would like to sell, I'd be happy to talk about i.

From Millie:

The scooter was $65.00 and included a helmet and butterfly stickers.
Jess with tie-dyed skirt outfit was $87.00 (many of us were disappointed in the workmanship of that outfit).

Her travel accessories (monkey, passport, guidebook etc in a shoulderbag) were $24; The Kayaking outfit was $30; the kayak, paddle & life jacket was $28; her PJs were $20 and her Tree-Swing was $44.

A good place to see what was offered (but without prices) is http://curtdanhauser.com/AG_Collecting/Main.html

And eBay is the best place to shop for retired dolls!! Good luck & have fun!

Posted by: Susan Cone at June 27, 2007 09:02 AM

have you heard that max theriot got charlie???

From Millie:

I think someone said that once . . . but is it true?? He looks soooo young in Nancy Drew - I liked him better in The Astronaut Farmer

You know - in the books, he wasn't a kid but a young adult . . .

Posted by: AG fan at July 5, 2007 07:41 AM

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone knew about the rumor that was on wikipedia was true. It said the American Girl of 2008 was going to be Brittany or is that just a guess? Thanks!

From Millie:

I haven't heard anything . . . has anyone else??!

Posted by: Catherine at July 5, 2007 05:26 PM

i can only talk for a sec. i just wanted to tell you that we are filming and that we are having a blast. i'm not aloud to tell you anything about the cast *Boohoo*! I really want to, but if i do, i'll get in BIG trouble. i have 2 go!

From Millie:

Thanks for checking in! I notice there is a website now: http://www.kitkittredge.com We're checking it out!!

Posted by: sara at July 10, 2007 09:41 AM

I was wondering: if Mattel were to create a new Historical Caracter along with Julie and Ivy, what event/era would you want the doll to live through?

From Millie:

My adult doll friends and I have been wanting a true Asian historical doll . . . and maybe Ivy is it BUT although I know she has her own book I haven't seen anything saying that Ivy will be a doll - hope so though!!

Posted by: Bubblegum Smacker at July 16, 2007 05:35 PM

I KNOW WHO SARA IS:MADISON DEVON PORT.

From Millie:

That's certainly who is playing Ruthie so we assume that is Sara . . . but she hasn't confirmed it yet!

Posted by: AMBER at July 17, 2007 11:17 AM

My name is YaYa and I am seven years old and I think American Girl dolls rock.

From Millie:

My nieces agree and so do I !

Posted by: yaya weiner at July 18, 2007 06:19 PM

Has anyone purchased one of the new Halloween outfits for the Just Like You dolls yet?

From Millie:

Well???

Posted by: Bubblegum Smacker at July 23, 2007 12:13 PM

"Sara" isnt Madison Davenport (Ruthie), she already told us she was Josette Halpert. (check Posted by: Sara at April 22, 2007 08:06 AM ) So unless she was lying, than she can't really be Ruthie.

From Millie:

That's got me confused too . . . we will just have to wait . . .

Posted by: HANNAH at July 23, 2007 01:21 PM

Hi, how is everyone? I'm just checking in to see how everyone is! Oh, and i just want you to know that i am not teasing you by not telling you who i am, because i am not aloud to. But some of these girls MAY be right. Hope you guys are all well!

From Millie:

Thanks for taking the time to write . . . we hope you get to tell us something soon!!

Posted by: Sara at July 27, 2007 10:28 AM

So, when does the new Ruthie doll come out?

From Millie:

We're guessing that it will be around the time that the Kit movie comes out in July . . . so probably next summer (nothing definite from American Girl yet)

Posted by: Bubblegum Smacker at July 29, 2007 11:59 AM

I was just researching about a ruthie doll, and this came up. Someone interviewed valery tripp, and she said that she was writing ruthie's story!!!!! Check out what she said:

Right now I'm writing about Kit's friend Ruthie, so right now I'd have to say my favorite is Ruthie.

(Kit fans will be happy to know a movie is currently being filmed with 10-year-old actress Abigail Breslin in the title role. The film is tentatively scheduled to debut in theaters in July 2008.)

From Millie:

Thanks for the book news - I like the ones Valerie Tripp writes!

Posted by: AG fan at July 29, 2007 01:44 PM

and i am a liar. sorry. i am not josette halpert. it was all part of the scheme, since the newest thing was that josette halpert got ruthie and i was like, no she didnt, so i decided to play along with it.

Do you believe i'm really ruthie? cous i swear that i am!

From Millie:

It's hard to believe anything when some of it is lies . . . you know the story about the boy who called Wolf too many times? Don't fall into that trap Sara - we'll like you whoever you are!

Posted by: sara at July 30, 2007 07:07 AM

I think it would be neat to have a Historical Doll from the Holocost, but that might be too sad to read about by some girls. I just find that whole event interesting, and sad.

It would be neat if they had one from the Titanic but that might be too sad also. I guess I'm just a person who's a sucker for those kinds of stories . . . is that bad?

From Millie:

They were very moving times and it's always amazing to learn of someone (especially a young girl) who made it through difficult times.

I found the current American Girl stories sad too ie Kirsten's friend dying in Book 1, Samantha and then Nellie being orphans . . . etc, etc. So I don't think it's bad!

Posted by: HANNAH at July 30, 2007 09:08 AM

I think it would be SWEET if Mattel made outfits from other companies like Limited Too, Aeropostale, etc! What do you think Millie?

From Millie:

I don't think Mattel would like it unless they owned the other company!!

Posted by: HANNAH at July 30, 2007 09:28 AM

I'm pretty sure Kaya's best friend doll is going to be Speaking Rain. It will be thier first time making a doll that is blind. That will be neat.

From Millie:

It would be interesting . . . but that is assuming that all the girl's will get their best Friend doll!

Posted by: HANNAH at July 30, 2007 01:20 PM

I really want to tell you who i am. Soon. They said eventually i can. If you dont believe it's me, i have proof. Hope you guys are doing well,

Ruthie

Thanks "Ruthie"! Saw the short on American Girl about the 4 winners who are in the Kit movie. Each one is very different! Looking forward to an introduction of Ruthie and of Will too . . .

Posted by: Sara at July 31, 2007 11:11 AM

Has anyone seen "Signs"? It is pretty creepy but it has Abigail Breslin in it. She played Bo (Hess). It was her first film.

From Millie:

I didn't . . . but I do want to see the newest one with Abigail in it - think it's called Reservations.

Posted by: Bubblegum Smacker at August 2, 2007 05:06 PM

Oh . . . and she was in Princess Diaries 2! She was a orphan named Carolina, the one Anne Hathaway (Mia) saw during a parade and got her to walk with her.

From Millie:

Afraid I missed that one too!

Posted by: Bubblegum Smacker at August 2, 2007 05:10 PM

Hi! Have any of you seen or been in The American Girls Revue or Circle of Friends show at the AG stores?

From Millie:

I saw the Revue in Los Angeles and was very impressed with the acting and the storyline. We've had people write in who were either in the show or related to people in the show.

Posted by: Alexis at August 3, 2007 05:39 PM

Millie, do you own all of the AG dolls (The historical ones at least!)? I do not have all of them, but hope to one day have them all! :)

From Millie:

I don't have Kaya and I don't have the second Girl of the Year (Kylie?) . . . but I do have the other Historical dolls (we need them to model, right?!) but only one JLY doll - the Asian one. Soon she will have a friend when I bring Ivy back!!

Posted by: Alexis at August 3, 2007 05:43 PM

Do you know the exact date when the Julie and Ivy dolls come out?

From Millie:

It took a few phone calls but finally learned that they will start shipping (and be sold directly at the stores) on Sunday. September 9th.

Darn! I had hoped to bring them back after the preview on 8/11! But watch for pictures!!

Has anyone played the game on americangirl.com in Fun for Girls. The new one, The Mystery of the True Heart or something. That game is hard! I am almost 14 and I can't beat the game! Has anyone unlocked the fifth game in it? Thanks!

P.S. I hope Julie comes out before August 24th, my 14th b-day =]

From Millie:

Maybe one of our other readers can help re. the game BUT sorry to say, Julie and Ivy will not be available until September 9th!! Took a few phone calls to finally get the date - but previews are this Thursday & Friday. We'll have pictures!!

Posted by: Amanda at August 8, 2007 10:05 AM

Hey everyone. have we figured out who sara is yet??? I hope we'll find out soon. american girl said ruthie was madison davenport.

guess what i heard. on somethin gi googaled it was madison davenport speaking, and she meantcioned that millies doll blog was awsome. not kidding! does that mean that sara is really ruthie?

From Millie:

It does seem that Madison is Sara and will be Ruthie . . . we're waiting!

Incidentally - if you didn't see it, there is a new clip on AmericanGirls.com under movies showing the 4 winners who will be in Kit's Movie! Maybe next will be one with Ruthie . . .

PS: Thanks for the compliment Madison!!

Posted by: AG fan at August 9, 2007 10:52 AM

Oh! I think a doll from the Renaissance time would be great. I'm thinking of getting Elizabeth but not sure about Felicity and my allowance is limited. what do you think Millie?

From Millie:

The two dolls are very different ie do you play with your doll, comb her hair, take her to bed but want her to still look fantastic?

Then Felicity is a better choice - Elizabeth is beautiful but wears a hairdo that cannot be easily changed . . . and will get messy in your bed! Her clothes are more difficult too as they are pretty fancy.

Posted by: Bubblegum Smacker at August 12, 2007 11:34 AM

Responding to Bubblegum Smacker: I would get Felicity if I were you. Elizabeth may be more elegent, but Felicity has more spirit. If you are basing your doll descicion on the stories, get Felicity. She is a more interesting character than Elizabeth in the sense that Elizabeth is shy and not a very in depth character. But for the dolls my favorite is Felicity, but Elizabeth is very beautiful too. Good luck on your decision!

From Millie:

Let us know which you decide to get . . . not an easy choice

Posted by: Amanda at August 13, 2007 07:33 AM

Posted by: Bubblegum Smacker at August 14, 2007 04:30 PM

AAHHHH MY MOM IS GETTING ME JULIE FOR MY B-DAY!!!!! Also I'm gonna buy Ivy with my allowance. I can't wait 'till they come out and I show my mom them. She was exactly the same age as Julie in 1974! OHH I can't wait 'till they come out! Also the imagestation link works now, cute pics.

From Millie:

Hooray!!

Posted by: Amanda at August 16, 2007 06:07 PM

I havn't really made my mind up yet but the Elizabeth accessories have been backordered till November 21 and my b-day's in December. I may just buy Felicity and her accessories and ask for Elizabeth and her accessories for my b-day.
I don't really play with them but I'm the kind of girl who likes to dress them up and display, so I think I'll like Elizabeth. Besides, she looks a lot like me.

From Millie:

Elizabeth and her wonderful outfits would be perfect for display! Sounds like a perfect plan -

Posted by: Bubblegum Smacker at August 18, 2007 09:31 AM

I love AG. I have Molly and Emily. I read on wikipedia that Julie and Ivy will be released today, August 20th, but they changed the date! Now they won't be released until September 10th! I was looking forward to seeing them and I am disappointed. Also, I will be 15 in January and I still play with my dolls; whoever thinks they are too old is wrong! Also, I do not believe that "Sara" actually is playing Ruthie. First she said she was Josette Halpart, then she said she was Madison Davenport, and then she said she couldn't tell us who she is! Plus, why would AG not let her tell anyone who she is? OH, I haven't heard anything about Rebecca. Does anyone know anything about the Girl of the Year 2008?

From Millie:

I Love AG Dolls too!

Emma~

Oh yeah, i saw the interview with "sara" aka madison davenport. she DID say you blog was the greatest so maybe sara is madison davenport, and not to meantcion she's annasophia robbs coudin just like she said. i hope we'll find out for sure soon, though. Bye!

Also it was strange, I bought the Julie 6 book set the day BEFORE the dolls came out. I didn't know that the bookstore was allowed to advertize before the introduction. P.s.
