Doll Repairs and Doll Hospitals
We often receive emails and phone calls asking about the repair of a favorite doll . . . whether the doll is 50 years or 50 days old. We have found that it is best to rely on professional help from doll hospitals. But where to find them?
If you are lucky enough to have an American Girl Doll or a doll from Madame Alexander, Effanbee, or Tonner Doll Companies - your problems are easy as they operate their own doll hospitals! Contact them directly for guidance and be prepared to describe the doll problem. In most situations you will need to send the doll to them and pay for the repair.
Most other companies - such as Corolle, Gotz, and Ginny - do not have a doll hospital. What they will offer, is to replace the doll if it was a recent purchase and the injury was not due to rough play. For all other repairs, you will need to take your doll to a doll hospital.
To find a good doll repair place, first ask your local doll or toy store for a recommendation. You might also check out your local phone directory for a doll repair or hospital listing. A third option is to search the internet by going to a search engine such as google.com and entering doll hospital. I tried it and found lots of entries! Speak with them if possible in order to get an idea on the price of the repair.
A common repair is called "re-stringing" and involves the re-attachment of doll arms or legs. It is a fairly simple procedure so should not require major experience or dollars to achieve. In fact, if you have a doll making store or doll show in your area they should be able to help you so that you can quickly bring home your good as new doll!

who is Julie, a new doll?
From Millie:
Julie is the new Historical doll to be coming out in September - it looks like she is from San Francisco in 1974
