More Details on American Girl Doll Julie
We just received more information on the Julie Albright books . . . she is really facing lots of challenges! In Meet Julie, she's upset because she had to move as her parents were just divorced. Then she tries to play basketball but the coach won't let girls play!
In Julie and the Eagles, she and her friend Ivy find a baby owl in Golden Gate Park. That leads her to the wildlife rescue center and two eagles that need to be released . . . if money can be raised to pay for it.
Julie's Journey (pictured above) takes place in 1976, the year of the bicentenial. Julie and her cousins join a pioneer style wagon train.
(NOTE: I think this is unusual that the books span more than one year ie this set starts in 1974 but continues through 1976)
The last of the six books, Changes for Julie, features Julie running for Student Body President with Joy, a deaf student.
They all sound great to me!!
PS: One close-up of the artist drawing of Julie shows her with one thin braid in her hair and with brown or hazel eyes!

What Does It Mean to Be An American Girl?
That's the name of a FANTASTIC event series taking place in Kansas City, Missouri in connection with the Toy and Minature Museum and several other historical sites in Kansas or Missouri plus several branches of the Kansas City Public Library system.
The events started April 28th 2007 with a lunch featuring Pleasant Rowland, creator of American Girls. There are more events scheduled throughout May, June, July and August. Click HERE for a link to a Kansas City Guide. Or for a list of scheduled events you can download from a pdf file click HERE.
Sounds like great fun if you are live in the area OR will be vacationing there this summer. Enjoy!!
