Dr. Toy Smart Play Guide

Dr. Toy searches for outstanding products for children to learn through play. She is the autor of "Smart Play/Smart Toys: How to Raise a Child with a High PQ (Play Quotent)"

Here's a play tip that is important this summer: Take time each day for games, puzzles, art, music, construction toys, books, puppets and various other play products. Children learn best through play. Smart toys encourage children to maximize their potential.

Another tip is to vary play experiences such as construction products, puzzles, creative and skill-building products to help your child gain self confidence, increase learning and expand imagination.

She also advises that we choose experiences for our children that require concentration and thinking and that involve skills and cognitive learning.

For products from DollCloset.com check out our Fun for Girls pages - books, games and puzzles are featured for hours of learning and challenging fun!

For younger girls, check out the Angelina Ballerina page for books and games . . .

American Girl Place in New York City!

YES! Just got back from a quick buying trip (while inventory was in progress) . . . and took a stop in NYC to visit the American Girl Place there.

Three floors packed with goodies - a bit more cramped than the one in Los Angeles - but the excitement was there! We picked up a few NY only T-shirt and pant outfits (black of course for NY!) and one of the dance costumes used in the AG Review - it's different from the one in California.

We didn't have tickets for the show or reservations for food this time. We arrived when it opened at 10am so there weren't lots of people yet . . . I wished I had one of my dolls for a re-do of her hair as there was NO line!

Fun was had by all -

PS: Have to admit we went up to FAO Schwarz after for lunch at their place. Good!!
