IDEX Plans for 2008

IDEX is the International Doll Exposition held in Orlando, Florida in January . . . before Toy Fair! That's where you can see the doll previews for 2008 AND have fun at a number of doll related events. (And that's where we were able to purchase the Julie D doll and wardrobe by Virginia Turner shown above)

To learn more about IDEX go to their website www.IDEXShows.com . . . the most interesting is to take a look at all the doll companies that will be there to show off their new lines (some don't even go to the New York Toy Fair anymore). Doll Companies you will recognize include the Madame Alexander Doll Company, Engel Puppen (Dolls) of Germany, Gotz Dolls, Tonner Doll Company and Vogue Dolls.

Alexander, Tonner and Vogue Dolls are each hosting a special event for the public - these are usually very well attended, lots of fun PLUS you come away with a special limited edition doll made just for the IDEX event! So - if Orlando, Florida can be your destination in January, you're in for a wonderful treat.

See below for a wonderful limited doll set obtained at a Tonner event!

New Corolle Girl Dolls and Clothes

Introducing the newest 17 inch and 14 inch Girl Dolls by Corolle (by girl dolls we mean that they are not baby dolls) . . . the lovely 17 inch Brunette shown above is Annabelle. She's dressed in a stylish outfit as suits a doll from France! The new blonde 17 inch doll is Fleur - she's dressed in a pretty pink fur jacket.

The 14 inch blonde doll shown below is named Ambre

She is also dressed in a chic coat and dress! Her brunette 14 inch counterpart is Amandine, wearing a white "fur" jacket and boots.

Delightful dolls with beautiful clothes imported just for them by Corolle. We especially like the Fashion Set shown below - it features a pink dress and a denim jacket and is available in 14 inch for Toddler Dolls and 17 inch Dolls. Check out all the Corolle dolls and outfits now in stock!

Kit Kittridge Film Update

In case you haven't seen it yet . . . this looks like a photo of the movie version of Kit - I think Abigail looks great! Look carefully and on the far right, all that brown curly hair? sure looks like it should be Ruthie! Maybe Madison will have a chance to look and let us know if we're correct . . .

Plus, check out the picture below - Abigail and Madison with soda glasses! Not sure if this is a picture of them relaxing OR practicing for a scene. Whatever - they both look happy and mischievious!

More on our Ginny Doll visit

Our visit to Vogue Doll Company - parents of Ginny Dolls - was last month but we we came away with many pictures we'd love to share with you. Lots and lots of dolls and ideas but this clock really pleased me! Made by one of the many Ginny Doll fans and adorable (thinking if I was clever -and had the time - an American Girl Doll clock would be cute too!)

The Vogue Doll Company is very much a family business - this is LInda Smith and her son David. Linda's husband runs the Tide-Rider part of the business (bears etc) - their daughter was actively involved in the doll business too. A small but very good staff assists them. They have high standards and lots of creativity!

Most of the Ginny Dolls of the past 10 years are on display plus many of the original Ginny Dolls from the 1950's. This is one of the many cases at the Vogue Doll Company.

Ginny Dolls are often found at Doll Conventions . . . in fact, one of the doll gifts for the upcoming Modern Doll Convention is shown in the above case - guesses anyone?!

Ginny Dolls earn lots of blue ribbons - you can see some of them displayed in the photo above.

More blue ribbons and awards - notice the special Cinderella and Minnie Mouse dolls done for the Doll Show held at DisneyWorld every year.

Hope you enjoyed these as much as we did getting them . . . watch for a special Ginny Doll Sale coming October 8th!!

Our Julie and Ivy Pictures!

Above is a picture of our Julie and Ivy baking cookies (they do that in the Good Luck Ivy book in order to raise money for Ivy's gymnastic team)

And here's a picture of Ivy modeling a new and cute pair of satin PJs!

It bothered me that she didn't have any but Julie did . . . I DON'T think the American Girl new Sleepover Set should count . . . just because Julie is Chinese, it doesn't mean she needs Chinese type PJs!!

I've been having fun reading Julie's books - especially as they take place locally so I can relate to her activities such as going to the Fairmont Hotel for Christmas Tea with her Dad and big sister.

We're just added the Let's Party Outfits shown below for Julie and Ivy - hope you like them too!
