Sasha and American Girl Dolls Work Together!

This is a picture of my Sasha doll dressed for a luncheon with other Sasha dolls . . . and the people who love them!

Sasha dolls were sculpted by the Swiss artist Sasha Morgenthaler. Her vision was to create dolls that represented and reflected the spirit of children of all races and cultures during their age of innocence.

Unfortunately, her original dolls were too expensive for most families. But then the 16" version you see pictured above was created and produced in the late 1960's by two different companies. Sasha doll production ended in 2001 BUT there are many who love and collect these dolls - and PLAY with them! They are NOT regulated to a shelf to never be touched.

Here's an example of a Sasha Baby wearing a handmade outfit that was auctioned for a children's charity at a Sasha Festival. Since the 1980's there has been a Sasha Festival somewhere in the USA - this year it will be in Omaha. In 2010 it will be in San Francisco (so you can expect us to be involved!)

Many of my friends who have American Girl dolls also have Sasha dolls because they are both beautiful dolls intended for play! At the recent Sasha luncheon, one of the women discussed her personal project to help abused children through the organization ChildHelp.

She personally donates an American Girl doll for each and every girl living in the southern California home. The dolls are NEW and selected to have the same physical look of the girl. The letters of thanks she receives are heartwarming!

Those of us at the Sasha lunchon were able to donate money to the organization for a special Birthday outing ten girls are going to be making to the American Girl Place. Now each girl will have spending money of her own to buy something while there. That's a happy ending!
